Overview: Allan is a 29 year old right footed Brazilian midfielder who stands at 5ft 7in tall and can play in a several central midfield roles.

Technical:

Allan displayed a variety of first time passes short and long with both his left and right feet. His short passing was firm and arrived at targeted players. His longer passing was not as progressive and was over-hit or intercepted on several occasions. When receiving the ball with his back to goal he has a tendency to play first time passes back to the receiving player. This firm passing technique did lead to several over-hit forward passes when trying to break the lines. This passing technique also lead to a 1v1 opportunity for the opposition striker after an over hit back pass was intercepted, on this occasion it did not lead to a goal. Allan rarely takes more than two touches and recycles the ball well in possession. His first touch cushions the ball well and allows his second action to be a progressive pass on most occasions.

Tactical:

Allan played on the left of a narrow midfield three. He came short often for the ball in a dummy run to create pockets of space in behind for the team to play the ball through the thirds. Tending to play side on to the ball allowing himself to take the ball on the half turn. He did show in several instances a rashness to try and dive in an attempt to win the ball back rather than jockey his opponent and this action let him be beaten easily 1v1. His press in the top third of the pitch was over eager and mistimed which allowed the opposition easy combination play to bypass this. However in the middle and bottom third of the pitch his intelligent positioning in recovery runs did lead to several interceptions and he was able to start counter attacks. Allan played between both boxes linking play offensively and defensively allowing his team to progress up the pitch by playing through the thirds. He is comfortable receiving the ball in any area of the ball and contributed one key pass in the build to the equalizing goal.

Physical:

Allan stands at 5ft 7 in and has a stocky wide frame. Despite his smaller size Allan has a good physical midfield presence. He displays average acceleration and pace but covers the ground well and is always able to keep up with play and hold his positional shape off the ball. He has a tendency to lean forward when running without the ball which does seem to hinder his body position when he faces an opponent 1v1 as this allows his feet to be planted and he is not as agile. Allan made one progressive run with ball he tends to change his stance widening his arms to create a bigger physical presence and a further barrier to enhance ball protection. He has the capability and speed to join in counter attacks as was shown on one occasion moving up the pitch adequately. He lacked agility when receiving the ball in space and had to turn towards goal in several actions. His running style is quite sharp and not smooth but it is effective enough. Allan showed excellent desire and work rate throughout his time on the pitch.

Summary:

Allan is an effective dynamic box to box player who displays excellent work rate and desire and can contribute in both offensive and defensive actions positively. He is technically competent in all aspects of his game and despite his lack of physical size displays good presence and excellent tenacity.
